Old CD drives

The other day when sift through my old hardware was to come I happened on a number of old CD drives. Pretty useless because they do not even DVD drives (they are only able to read and write not CDs, DVDs), but I thought I might find a few uses.

The first thing I did was a cool but completely useless cup holder. It returned an ad on TV several years that a man was gloating over his computer, saying that it had a cup holder, which was in reality only the CDTo drive that what my idea. The other thing I have a drive for making a hidden compartment. Just out of interest, but you could do this if you need a place to hide something. There are two ways to do it: Ripping off the front panel and stick it in an empty drive bay on your computer, ordoing it right.

might Unfortunately, the method I used is not open at the push of a button, I had to rip out the engine, but if you're creative you are likely to develop something.

What I did is very simple. I opened it with a screwdriver and ripped all the guts. The engine, wheels, everything. All but the frame and tray. Then I got the frame and tray back in the fall (the drive) to the head, and screwed them back together. These are all fairly simple ideas, and not all that difficult to carry out. A bit unnecessary, but cool all the same.
