Apple iPad Preview

0

The long awaited Apple tablet has finally been unveiled. Steve Jobs took the wraps off on 27 January in a tense morning for Apple, and tech fans around the world. Now with the specifications and information are available at the time to preview the iPad and its potential.

In particular, the design is pretty spectacular. The front is dominated by the large 9.7-inch LED-lit LCD display, which is without doubt a lot. Just below the screen you get the iPhone Home button, which youback to the top at all times. A less attractive feature for me are the black bars on the screen. They are a bit too far for my taste, it would have been better if Apple could expand the display a bit and take the limits. At the top you get off the sleep button, the display is. On the right you will see the volume buttons and switches to get the silence is interesting that the buttons have been moved from left (iPhone) on the right side. On the back you get the bigblack Apple logo in the middle of a big gray (aluminum?) mass. He also says on the back, the number of UK and a few things that the FCC needed to be there I think are iPad. It is not impossible to suppose that the new iPhone will have a similar function returns. The tablet is really thin, it is actually only 0.5 inches thick, that's as thick as an iPhone. Height and width in measures 9.6 inches and 7.47 inches.

Now you can talk about the software of the iPad. It works very much like an iPhone. Slideto unlock and you're on the home screen with the typical iPhone icons. You will receive: YouTube, Mail, Safari, Address Book, iPod, iTunes, App Store, video, settings, maps, calendar, photos, and last but not least, sheet music (Google!).

The apps are a bit modified for the new opportunities, however. For example, photos are now disposed of the case blocks. Tap a block of photos you can preview the photos in this case (or card for Windows users). But you can also your mostprecious memories to list, location, faces, or date. We can imagine that it looks really fantastic to manipulate photos on a big screen and show them to your friends.

Another application Steve Jobs showed extensive was the Safari App. The browsing experience exceeds the desktop experience, because you can touch and browse the pages. And unlike the iPhone you can now see the full pages.

The App Store is able to transform this unit into things Apple never aloneto achieve. You can find all iPhone applications on either full screen or 1:1 lead, the latter being the actual resolution we expect from out most popular smartphones. But in addition to running the iPhone apps, the iPad will also get their own applications. Developers can program for them and realize their full potential. The things that we saw in the keynote, including software from EA looked okay, but not very impressive. come in a few months, some amazing bit of code for the tabletwe are safe.

I have taken everything into account a few things bug me now. First, the iPad have Flash support? The tablet is probably the best browsing experience to deliver ever, but Flash is a big part of the experience.

Another thing is the hardware. Apart from the case and the touch screen things are not good on paper. It has built a Quad Core processor at 1GHz at Apple, a company does not specialize in these chips. I was afraid that this A4 processorperhaps not fast enough for the really interesting applications. Another drawback is the lack of iSight camera. This thing would be amazing for video conferencing or instant messaging, have missed an opportunity there. Other hardware numbers are a mystery. As soon as the graphics chip? And how much memory it has to work?

And last but not least I have a hard time give the software to my two thumbs up. I think it looks a lot like the iPhone software. The iPad wouldwas much stronger when the software allows some advanced things like video editing or the ability to access and save files in the Finder window (or cards for Windows users).

Finally. This looks great iPad, and with a price of EUR499 sell it is really good. But like the first iPhone-launch of the iPad has obvious shortcomings. It is not really fast, and has no webcam on top of that the software is missing premium computing functions. With that said, I could get anotherif the experience is as amazing as Steve Jobs said during his presentation. Who know Apple probably will be the case.
